A powerful netbook...or Midget notebook or something else ? ? Plz help?

I am a computer science student and need a laptop which is light, portable nd easy to carry around. I need good processing power along with light weight.. My usage includes all the programming stuff, working with a lot of softwares, and casual gaming. I will need atleast two OS working on my machine. Is there a reasonably powerful but light laptop at around Rs 50k-55k ...ie. $1100 at max? Since i will have to carry around my laptop a lot, i want it light nd Midget without sacrificing on its processing power. If it is not possible at my budget....then is getting some ultralight mini laptops or powerful netbook a good idea ? It will be down on power but will it be sufficient for my programming and academic needs , running multiple OS nd playing some light games like counter strike, need for speed underground etc ? Hey...nd connectivity to me is equally important. So plz suggest me some good notebooks according to my need... Is there something better coming soon ? I can wait for 4 months at max.

  1. Acer TravelMate 47 20. It is very light, well used. Ultra fast, and can be used for a lot of programs like Windows Word, powerpoint and all that. 4 hours battery, up to 8 depending on the way you treat it. Very light. Can play Halo, CS, and all that. Nothing to big though. Its internet connection is good to.
  2. Get a mini laptop. My best friend has got one and she has got everything on there
  3. Netbooks are laughable. The Intel Atom may be 1.6GHz, but it has the power of a 0.9GHz celeron. This has to due with clock efficiency. Your best best is a cheap laptop with a core2duo. Don't expect a Midget laptop to be able to do NFSU decently, though I may be wrong. Though CS will do just fine. With all the software and a multi-boot, you'll also want 250-500 gigs of HDD space. Any were around 2-4 gigs of ram will do, though for specialized software, you may want the 4, just consumer programs don't need that much. I suggest a Midget notebook, not a netbook. If you're willing to wait a few months, quad-core laptops may become cheaper, possibly in your budget. Good luck. :)
